CASTEL DEL MONTE
Non distante da Altamura č la cittā di Andria, famosa per Castel del Monte. Fu fatto edificare da Federico II di Svevia nel XIII sec.
Presumibilmente come residenza di caccia. La sua forma ottagonale e la struttura planimetrica dello stesso hanno fatto avanzare l'ipotesi di una destinazione di difesa. L'edificio č possente, essenziale ed č ingentilito solamente dal portale di breccia rosata e dalle finestre monofore e bifore.


CASTEL DEL MONTE
The town of Andria, about 50 Kilometres from Altamura, is famous for "Castel del Monte" . The castle was built by the Emperor Frederik II of Swabia in the 13th century, probabliy as hunt residence.
Its octagonal shape (with eight-sided towers) and the plonimetric structure let suppose it was a defence residence. The castle building is imposing and terse rifined only by the light-coloured stone portal and by windows with one light and twinned windows.
